NEW FRONT ENGINED SOPWITH SCOUT

Sopwith are developing a new version of the Scout three wheeler. The first version of the Scout and similar Dove model had a rear engine, rear wheel drive configuration. The new version has a front engine front wheel drive set up. Power comes from a 1.2 litre V6 which is mated to a six speed manual gearbox. Sopwith are also developing an electric version which will have the electric motor mounted to the same six speed gearbox. The target range is around 100 miles on a single charge, but this may increase once developments gets under way.

The sketches show examples of the V6 powered version in various colour schemes to give the prospective buyer an idea of how the car can be configured as each one is bespoke built.

The new front engined vehicle is the same overall size as the rear wheeled version. The cockpit is moved further back in the chassis to accommodate the engine giving the car a longer nose / bonnet which gives the car a more purposeful aesthetic.

We will be making front and rear engine demonstration vehicles in the new year for prospective buyers to drive and the company plans to exhibit the cars at various shows next year. Details of which will be released as soon as plans are finalised.

The Sopwith three wheelers are designed to put the fun back into motoring, they take you back to the pioneering days of simple open top, wind in the hair motoring, seldom experienced in todays era of ever complicated, sanitised cars that all look the same. These cars are about making a statement, a celebration of the driving experience, of being a rebel and not conforming to the norm!
